Article 4. Production area.

1. According to the Control Board, the suitable area for growing the grapes varieties indicated in article 5 and of quality enough for manufacturing wines with the specific characteristics of the ones protected by the Designation of Origin "Málaga" and "Sierras de Málaga", will be the municipalities listed below: Málaga, Alameda, Alcaucín, Alfarnate, Alfarnatejo, Algarrobo, Alhaurín de la Torre, Almachar, Almargen, Almogia, Alora, Antequera, Archez, Archidona, Arenas, Arriate, Atajate, Benedalid, Benamargosa, Benamejí, Benomocarra, Borge, Campillos, Canillas de Aceituno, Canillas de Albaida, Cártama, Casabermeja, Casares, Colmenar, Comares, Cómpeta, Cuevas Bajas, Cuevas de San Marcos, Cutar, Estepona, Frigiliana, Fuentepiedra, Gaucín, Humilladero, Iznate, Macharaviaya, Manilva, Moclinejo, Mollina, Nerja, Palenciana, Periana, Pizarra, Rincón de la Victoria, Riogordo, Ronda, Salares, Sayalonga, Sedella, Sierrra de Yegüas, Torremolinos, Torrox, Totalán, Vélez-Málaga, Villanueva de Algaidas, Villanueva del Rosario, Villanueva de Tapia, Villanueva del Trabuco and Viñuela.

2. Inside the production area of the Designation of Origin "Sierras de Málaga" , there is a sub-area called "Serranía de Ronda"consisting of the grounds located at the municipalities of Arriate, Atajate, Benadalid, Gaucín and Ronda.

3. The Control Board shall supervise which grounds meet the requirements to be included in the production area, as well as to locate them in the corresponding cartographic documents.
